Representation in a Real Estate Transaction

Why use a Realtor®?

Who will have your best interest at heart?

Since June 2018 there have been substantial changes in B.C.’s real estate industry as it pertains to ‘representation’ and who, we as licensed real estate professionals, can represent, over the course of a transaction.

In the past, we were able to represent both buyer and seller in a transaction as long as we had the consent of both parties, however it was in a ‘limited’ fashion.

Today, we are required to provide additional information upfront and disclose exactly what we can and in some instances, can not do for clients, even before we begin working for you.

The Disclosure of Representation in Trading Services Form (below) will bind the agent you have chosen, to honour four legal duties:

1) Loyalty,

2) Avoid conflicts of interest,

3) Fully disclose any relevant information, and

4) Protect your confidentiality (indefinitely).

Take a quick read over the form to see why you will likely want to engage a real estate professional, and hopefully me, to go to work on your behalf! It’s always wise to have a professional looking out for your best interests.
